19yo Strangled Mom to Death After She Served Him Eviction Notice and Told Him to Get a Job

A staff member of Chicago’s Loyola University was killed in Indiana after she served an eviction notice on her son, who was 19 years old at the time.

According to court records, the woman, who was 43 years old at the time of the incident, filed the notice against her son, Connor, on February 5.

The following day, the police responded to a call about an assault.

According to reports by the local media outlets WGN and the Post-Tribune, the police found the woman, who was identified as Burns, unconscious. She died two days later.

The authorities reportedly found that she had been strangled. To avoid getting kicked out, Kobold had to clean his room and perform other tasks to keep the house clean.

Court records show that Kobold was charged with murder and battery in connection with his mother’s death.

Burns was a staff member at the university and was known for being very kind and poised. Karen Paciero, one of her colleagues, described her as a smart and witty individual.

In a statement, the university noted that Burns was a trusted advisor to various members of the Advancement division and was known for her ability to design and execute effective strategies.

The entire university community is deeply saddened by her loss. Burns was from Indiana and enjoyed traveling.

According to her obituary, Burns taught herself how to play the piano and enjoyed it throughout her life. She also loved writing poetry and stories.

On his LinkedIn page, Kobold noted that he started his studies at a maritime academy in 2022.

The trial of Kobold is scheduled to start in August. According to the Post-Tribune’s report, he attempted to represent himself earlier this year, but he was later appointed a public defender.

A court document revealed that he was appointed as a public defender on April 1.
