A two-year-old boy from Georgia died after he accidentally shot himself in the parking lot of a Walmart on July 3.
According to WALB, Nakyzi was left inside the vehicle while his parents were at a nearby stand buying fireworks.
Witnesses said that after hearing a gunshot, the boy’s parents ran back to their car and found him with a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to the police, the child was taken to a hospital in Douglas, and later transferred to an area trauma center.
He died on Saturday.
The police stated that they are trying to determine how the boy got his hands on the gun.
The police are also conducting an investigation to determine what happened to the child.
According to witnesses, Nakyzi was inside the car’s front seat when the incident occurred.
The weapon may have been in the car’s side door.
