Husband Cremates ‘Wife’ Only to Find Her Alive 372 Miles Away

A case of mistaken identity has been reported in India after a man reportedly cremated the body of his dead wife.

The woman, Phoolmati, was found alive days later.

The man, who identified himself as Ram Sumer, 60, had reportedly told authorities that his wife had gone missing.

According to the man, Phoolmati went missing on June 15.

He filed a missing persons report after she failed to return home.

The police then launched an investigation after mistakenly believing that the victim was Phoolmati.

It’s believed that Phoolmati was in regular communication with a man from Sultanpur, who identified himself as Shubham.

After confirming that the woman was still alive, the man reportedly agreed to take her to Jhansi.

According to police officer Jitendra Tomar, Phoolmati was reunited with her husband on Saturday, June 22.

He also noted that a case has been opened regarding the possible connection between her husband, Shubham, as well as Sumer and the woman who was cremated.
