A court heard that a lawyer for a luxury car company was sent to prison after she threw her newborn daughter out of her apartment window because she was worried that becoming a mother would affect her career.
The court was told that the woman, who was 28 years old at the time, didn’t tell anyone about her pregnancy.
The child fell from the window about 12 feet.
The child’s body was discovered under the apartment’s balcony by horrified onlookers, and the woman was immediately arrested
. She was later found guilty of manslaughter.
According to the prosecutors, Jovanovic, who was an executive in the legal department of Porsche, had thought that becoming a mother would negatively affect her career.
Mareike Hafendoerfer, a public prosecutor, said that the woman didn’t want to put her professional plans on hold because she was expecting.
She was eventually convicted of murder due to her decision.
Her lawyer, Malte Hoech, said that the incident had affected him personally.
The woman, who was not aware that she was pregnant, was in a vulnerable psychological state at that time.
She accidentally dropped her baby onto the ground.
Although the court ruled that she was guilty of manslaughter, it gave her a reduced sentence of seven and a half years in prison.
The woman’s legal team stated that they would appeal the verdict.
According to her neighbors, they had no idea that she was pregnant until recently.
They also said that she had stopped talking to them.
