Eight-Week-Old Baby Girl Dies After Being Left in Scorching Hot Car by Her Father

A man was apprehended after his infant daughter died after he left her inside a vehicle in New Jersey.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s office said that at around 1:45 p.m, emergency responders were called to a report of a child in cardiac arrest in Lakewood Township.

The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to prosecutors, the infant was left inside the vehicle for a “significant amount of time” before she died.

Temperatures in the area that day reached over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Her father, Avraham Cohen, was charged with child endangerment.

More charges are expected to be filed as the investigation continues.

This year, over a dozen children have died in the US due to hot cars.

Since 1990, over 1,100 kids have died in hot cars.

About 88% of those who died were under three years old.
