After a fire during their wedding killed over a hundred of their guests, the couple told News that they couldn’t live in their community anymore.
Haneen and Revan, who were 27 and 18 years old, respectively, said that they feel like they are dead inside after surviving the disaster.
According to Revan, 15 of his relatives died due to the fire. His bride lost 10 of her relatives, and her father is in critical condition.
The disaster has forced the couple to relocate. The incident also injured over 150 people.
Revan stated that their happiness was destroyed by the tragic events that affected them. Therefore, it is the best decision for them to leave their home.
He said that although they are still alive, they feel like they are already dead.
The wedding, which was held on Tuesday, had reportedly been attended by about 900 guests. The fire started at around 10.45 pm.
Although it was initially reported that the fire was caused by fireworks, Revan noted that it might have started in the ceiling.
According to him, he heard the crackling sound and looked into the ceiling. He then saw that the nylon ceiling was melting.
In a video that was later shared by the media, the couple danced as pieces of debris fell from the ceiling.
He said that during the dance, a power cut occurred. When the electricity returned, he saw fire in the ceiling
. He then said that people started to scream and run away. He then said that he helped his wife, who was unable to walk due to her wedding dress, by dragging her.
As the chaos unfolded, he said that he kept dragging his wife out of the kitchen. He also noted that the only fire extinguisher that was available didn’t work.
He said that as the people started to run away, others trampled on his wife.
According to him, his father had asked about the safety of fireworks, especially since they could cause sparks that could land on the wedding dress.
However, according to the hall’s owners, the fireworks were electric and could not burn. The young couple had no choice but to mourn.
