Flooding Risk Possible on Fourth Day of Heavy Rains in South Florida

The heavy rainfall that has been hitting South Florida this week has caused severe flooding.

It has turned roads into canals, and some people have had to walk through waist-deep water.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that two people died in a vehicle crash that happened shortly after 4:30 pm Wednesday near Fort Myers.

The victims, who were identified as a man and a woman, died after their car lost control and crashed into another vehicle.

The other two individuals in the car were injured. Due to the heavy rainfall that has been hitting the region, some areas have experienced major flooding.

Stranded drivers have had to deal with hazardous driving conditions on roads and streets, and flights have been canceled or delayed.

Schools in some of the hardest-hit areas have also been closed.

The South Florida Weather Prediction Center noted that the region could see another day of heavy rainfall on Friday.

Although the storms are expected to start to move out over the weekend, additional heavy rainfall is still expected to occur in the region.

According to the Weather Prediction Center, several cities in South Florida could see over two feet of rainfall by the end of the week.

Even though moderate rain rates are expected to occur, additional flash flooding is likely due to ongoing waterlogging.

As of Friday evening, flood watches have been issued for over seven million people in the region.

Additional rainfall of up to 4 inches is expected to occur in the region through Friday night.

Although the storm activity is expected to subside over the weekend, more rain could cause more issues.

In response to the situation, Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency in several counties

. Officials have urged residents to stay home as the water has covered roads and houses.
