The officer, who was working security at the event, made contact with a trio of players, including wide receiver Nyck Harbor, as they were walking up the tunnel following an injury.
The incident, which quickly went viral, showed the officer bumping into the players before pointing and scolding them, telling them to get out of the area. The confrontation sparked widespread outrage, with fans and celebrities alike calling for the officer’s firing.
“When you see a uniformed officer like this working at a stadium or an event, you should know that they’re off duty,” one fan wrote. “They’re being privately paid by the venue to work as security and it’s extra money on top of their existing salaries. The DPS Trooper involved was sent home from the game. Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter.
