Kerry, Ben’s mother, is waiting for DNA results to confirm if a Danish man is the father of her son. The youngster went missing from Kos, Greece, when he was 21 months old.
For the last 33 years, Ben’s parents have been searching for him. However, a man from Denmark claimed that he was kidnapped from Kos. He is the third individual to come forward claiming to be the child’s father.
According to the man, he was abducted around 25 years ago. He was walking in a market when a person shouted “Ben” at him.
According to Kerry, she doesn’t expect to get any better news regarding her son’s case. She said that she has experienced this situation many times before.
According to the Sheffield woman, who is Ben’s mother, the man is trying to find his real family. Since the incident occurred, her family have followed up on hundreds of leads. The man’s DNA sample will be compared with a blood sample taken from Ben when he was born at Boston Hospital.
After a witness claimed that Ben died due to a digger accident, the police believed that the child was killed in an accident. However, blood found at the scene in 2016 was not the child’s. Kerry stated that the investigation must continue as the man who made the claim refuses to talk to the police.
He will be 35 in October. According to his mother, she can’t believe that it’s been 33 years since her son was last seen. She also stated that she’s supporting Jay’s family. She said that knowing what happened to her son is better than not knowing.
She also stated that she feels the pain of the people who are affected by cruel online comments. She urged the trolls to stop using abusive language. In May, she sent an Interpol appeal to help the authorities identify the body of a child found in the River Danube in Germany.
On May 19, 2022, Interpol released a sketch of a child who was discovered in the water. Although the authorities initially thought the child was Ben, they later confirmed that it was not. The mum believes that the disturbing words that an inmate reportedly said could help solve the case.
She urged the police to investigate an inmate who claimed that Ben was a victim of child trafficking. In 1996, five years after the child disappeared, a man named Andonis Bedzios called the Needhams and told them that Ben was in his hands.
In July 2021, a picture of Ben was released online showing how he would look when he was 31 years old. Kerry was not convinced by the police theory after forensic experts revealed in September 2018 that there was a poor DNA profile that was found in a car near where the child disappeared.
After giving a DNA sample, Kerry was disappointed when it came back negative. She said that if the blood found at the scene was not Ben’s, then who should have custody of it? The family had high hopes that the positive result would prove that the child had died.
It had been hoped that the positive results of the DNA test would help the family start the healing process. However, after learning that the results were negative, she was left with a confused and conflicting feeling.
