A woman was injured after she fell asleep while using her phone charger. The tip of the device touched her leg, causing third-degree burns.
The incident was captured on camera. The user’s left knee had a blackened hole.
The incident reportedly happened due to the current being sent by the device after it absorbed the sweat from her skin.
The woman, who was rushed to a hospital in Geneva, said she initially thought that her wounds would heal on its own. She noted that she fell asleep while using the charger’s tip.
After talking to the doctor, she learned that the small amount of electricity that was sent by the device caused the burns.
She decided to share her experience in order to warn others about the dangers of plugging their devices into the mains.
She had burns over a year ago, and she’s still trying to cover up the scar she got with the tattoo.
According to Dr. Andre-Levigne, a Burns expert at a hospital in Geneva, the incident was caused by a chemical reaction.
He noted that prolonged exposure to the device’s components could cause the skin’s pH level to change.
The chemical reaction caused by the charger can develop slowly and cause severe burns that appear after several hours.
It’s believed that the user was a heavy sleeper who didn’t wake up after falling asleep.
Unfortunately, this type of burn can also be dangerous, as evidenced by the incident in Worcester, where a house was destroyed after an iPhone charger exploded.
According to Emma Flaherty, she was alerted to the fire by her daughter’s bedroom.
The mother said that the fire started due to an unbranded iPhone charger, which overheated and resulted in the house bursting into flames.
She noted that she bought the charger from a newsagent or Amazon.
She said that her daughter Chloe had just plugged her iPhone 13 into the charger while she was sleeping.
A few minutes later, the house caught on fire. Emma immediately grabbed her children and carried them out of the house.
The neighbors tried to extinguish the fire using a hose, but it was too much.
