The Great Egg Heist: Thieves Make Off with 100,000 Organic Eggs

Imagine a midnight raid, but instead of cash or jewels, the thieves are after something much more unexpected - eggs!

That's exactly what happened in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, where thieves stole a whopping 100,000 organic eggs from a distribution trailer.

The Scene of the Crime

The Chambersburg Patrol Unit received a call at 8:40 p.m. on February 1 to investigate a theft at Pete and Gerry's Organics.

When they arrived, they found that a large quantity of eggs had been swiped from the back of a trailer.

The stolen eggs are valued at $40,000, making this a pricey heist.

Why Eggs?

You might be wondering why someone would steal eggs. But with egg prices rising by nearly 37% and a shortage at some retailers, it seems that eggs have become a hot commodity.

The thieves may have seen an opportunity to cash in on the demand.

The Investigation is Underway

The Pennsylvania State Police are working hard to crack the case (pun intended!) and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

If you have any tips, you can contact the PSP Chambersburg at 717-264-5161.

The Bottom Line

The theft of 100,000 eggs may seem like a strange crime, but it highlights the current egg shortage and rising prices in the US.

As the investigation continues, one thing is for sure - the people behind this egg heist are going to have a lot of eggs on their hands!
