The suspect, who was later discovered dead in a state park, reportedly committed suicide.

According to the police chief, they responded to the scene after a woman reported that there was blood everywhere.

Upon reaching the scene at around 5:38 a.m., they discovered Joseph Deponceau, who was shot in the upper torso, dead.

His girlfriend, who called 911, told investigators that Deponceau’s grandson, Andrew Vahey, had killed him.

According to the Democrat and Chronicle, the victim’s girlfriend identified the shooter as the 24-year-old Vahey.

The police chief noted that the woman’s account was confirmed by the footage from the surveillance cameras at the scene.

As law enforcers searched for Vahey in a state park, they spotted him and tried to contact him, but he took his own life.

During a press briefing, the police chief stated that the incident had added to the already tragic situation in the community.

He noted that the members of the same family lost a grandfather and a grandson.

The police noted that the conflict between Deponceau and Vahey might have been triggered by their disagreement over property.

The incident occurred just a week after law enforcers were called to the same residence for a dispute regarding a parking space.
